Hanna Hansdotter’s novel approach to glass art has earned her well-deserved recognition. Working in Glasriket (“the Kingdom of Crystal”), a historically significant region of Sweden renowned for glassmaking, Hansdotter reinterprets a centuries-old tradition of industrial glassblowing through a contemporary lens. Her richly voluptuous sculptures are created by blowing molten glass into iron frameworks, which imprint distinctive patterns on the surface. The glass is then left to settle naturally, allowing each piece, even within an edition, to assume a unique form. Hansdotter describes her practice as an exploration of the intersection between craft and mass production: industrial methods guided by artistic intent.
