Drömmer att jag somnar
19.08—17.09.22

Gallery Steinsland Berliner is proud to present Drömmer att jag somnar, an exhibition featuring new work by Swedish artist Malin Gabriella Nordin.

Malin Gabriella Nordin is associated with her abundantly colorful paintings, often depicting abstract motives suggestive of flourishing nature. Inspired by the transcendental aspects of existence and exhibiting influences derived from art-historical and philosophical movements, her work conveys a timeless quality which allows for enthralling results when paired with contemporary input and ideals. Nordin’s effortless movement between mediums results in a rich output that includes drawings, collages and large-scale metal sculptures.

Drömmer att jag somnar (transl. Dreaming of falling asleep) focuses on a suite of paintings informed by Mediterranean travels and that elusive state between sleep and wakefulness where dreams and the physicality of life meld unpredictably. Accompanying the paintings are cut out metal sculptures that appear as three-dimensional versions of elements found in the paintings. Sharp-Edged in contrast to the swirling roundness of Nordin’s brushstrokes, the two means of expression create a spectrum of materiality that illustrates the solidifying process of waking up.
