Anabolic Spectacle is a text-based solo performance that draws on the language of men’s online magazines, transforming their rhetoric into feverish dreamscapes of a violent quest for bodily self-mastery. The piece traces a labyrinth of fantasies, restless nights, and the effects of the categorical gaze on bodies that resist legibility, likening the audience’s gaze to the scrutinizing stares encountered in public space.

The performance positions a transmasculine body as an incompatible terrain for hegemonic masculine narratives—a site where capitalist ideals of the optimized self begin to unravel.
